Supervised Visits:
Benefits of Supervised Visitation
Supervised Visits are designed to assure that a child can have safe contact with the other parent without having to be put in the middle of the parents' conflicts or other problems. It is the child's need that is paramount in making any decisions regarding the need for such supervision. However, there are also some significant benefits to parents. It is my hope that no one will look upon supervised visitation or as a negative or stigmatized service. It is a tool that can help families as they go through difficult exchange and/or transitional times. Some of the benefits for the various family members are as follows:
Child's Benefit: Having regular contact with both parents is vital and positively impacts a child’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Children are able to have specific and predictable visits with the non-custodial parent, keeping them out of their parents’ conflicts, allowing for healthy relationships with both parents. The Supervised Visitation service also allows children the assurance that they will be able to visit the non-custodial parent in a safe and comfortable environment, without stress or worry about the outcome of the visit. Your child is the main focus, and their connection with both parents is vital for their positive growth.
Custodial Parent Benefit: One of the benefits of my service is that visitation arrangements can be made through the supervisor and are meant to alleviate contact between you and the other parent. Visit times are staggered by 15 minutes (beginning and ending), so there is no contact of either parent with each other. Your child's visits can be scheduled and occur without fear or intimidation from either side. You can rest easy knowing your child(ren) are safe and will not be exposed to inappropriate behavior.
Non-Custodial Parent Benefit: You can be sure that your contact with your children does not have to be interrupted regardless of any personal or interpersonal problems you may be having. If allegations have been made against you, which is often the case when supervision is ordered, you can visit without fear of any new accusations because there is someone present who can verify what happened during your time together. When using a professional service, you can also be assured that the supervisors are neutral and objective.
